Short Message - November 16, 2011

Hey I wanted to just send you a quick message telling you I just wrote you a letter!  What do you like better e-mail or hand written ones?  Its easier for me sometimes to just write it out by hand because of the time constraint on the computers.  I just wanted to let you know though I am thinking about you guys!  Don't worry I haven't forgetten about you all!  I think about you all everyday even though it is pretty busy.  I guess you can make it as busy as you want because we have a lot of time where it is up to us if we are going to study or not.  Anyways thanks for sending me those ties!  I'll keep a look out for them.  And look out for my letters coming!  I'm going to see if I can print off some pictures and send them to ya sometime.  Well I love ya all!!!

Short Message - November 10, 2011

Hey just letting you know I wrote you and mom a handwritten letter so hopefully you will be getting it in a few days.  Its kind of hard to e-mail sometimes so I thought it would be easier to write a handwritten one.  I sure love and miss you guys and I think about all you guys everyday!  Tell everyone I didn't get to write a lot of letters today!  I will next week though!  My singles ward sent me a letter where everyone signed a paper which was pretty cool!  Hey if you want to send me anything ties would be cool. But really I'm good if you don't want to send anything!  I really loved those pictures!  I look at them every day!  Well look for my letter for more information on what has been going on! Take care family and have fun camping this weekend!!!!!

Pictures!

Some pictures of Luke at the MTC! (From Elder Carlson's Mom)

"Hey Dad!"

DAD!
I sure miss you too dad!  I just got your dear elder yesterday so luckily I get to e-mail you back! Tell mom I already wrote a letter and will send it today to her.  I'm going to try and write lacy one too.  That sounds like you had a pretty awesome Halloween! I was thinking about you guys all night! I went to bed at 10:30 on halloween. haha Its all good though I had some candy so it was kind of like halloween.  I can't wait to see all the pictures!  Thats way cool you are going to the FBI NAA conference! I bet everyone is going to be way excited to see you! And thats cool you are going to be teaching again! The one guy we ran into walmart seemed pretty excited to take your class. I'm glad they had you make some more of those Park Reservation signs. You must have made some good ones before to want to order some more.  I so wish I could spend the holidays with you guys! It will be alright though. I will miss the swedish traditions but maybe i can bring those traditions to Argentina! I will miss your guitar solo as well! For real! Send me some pics if you can while you are in new york! No worries if you can't.
Thats to bad you are done home teaching with President Hinton. He is such a neat guy.  He really changed my oppinion about home teaching as well. Its cool how close you get to the people you teach.  Thats what they talk about here a lot.  Before you can do anything for someone you have to care for them. Treat them as people not just some baptismal statistic.  You really have to care for them to make any difference.  Its really so neat in here.  You feel the spirit here 24/7 and just want to do good.  Sometimes it gets pretty tough and frusrating but its all part of the experience.  I'm super busy all the time but i'm pretty much used to it.  I'm just kind of in the swing of things now i think.  Time is so weird here though I feel like i've been here forever and at the same time not really.  you kind of forget what day it is and stuff because everyday is basically the same.  Even Sundays kind of seem normal in a way. Anyways have you gone to the other ward yet? If so how has it been?
Anyways this week I've made a list of stuff I wanted to tell you this week so share this with mom. And the rest of the family if you want.  First of all I don't know if i told you or not but Scott Carlson (Ken Carlson's son) is in my district so thats cool.  He leaves next week to the Dominican Republic to finish up the MTC there.  I've seen Dallin, lars, and Tason here.  Dallin's class is right by mine so i see him all the time.  I see Tason and Lars every once in awhile but I don't really get to much time to talk to them.  Alsoon tuesday we have a fireside like usual and i got to be an usher so i got to find seats for people but the best part is i got really good seats for myself.  i was right by the speaker.  Elder W. Craig Zwick of the seventy spoke.  I even got to shake his hand after! it was awesome.  The talks they give here are undescribably good.  i'm so pumped after them.  It makes me want to be the best missionary I can be. And after the tuesday firesides we have a district devotional which is always pretty cool.  We had one of our branch presidents talk to us about how all of our attributes are enhanced as a missionary especially to learn a language. Its really cool to think about. i can't wait until I can speak spanish.  I get so frustrated sometimes.  mostly with my companion.  He goofs around so much and still understands the language really good.  he's really been getting on my nerves lately.  I want to alpha roll him so hard you don't even know but the missionary part of me says otherwise.  I can't even study sometimes because hes talking with the rest of my class. I need to have a talk with him.  I just want to be the best missionary I can be.  I know there is a reason why he's my companion probably to push me and its working. haha It will all work out though. Also I'm the senior companion for the first half of our stay here!  It doesn't really mean much because then we switch but it is still kind of cool.  Well I love you so much dad! Tell everyone hi for me!  Thanks so much for all of the love and support.  Really it means so much i can really feel the support even here.  i miss you guys like crazy.  Well be safe on your motorcycle ride!  Love you!

"Hey guys it's my first real p day!"

Hey parents!

Hey Dad I got both of your letters on the same day! haha Its so nice to hear from you guys!  Getting mail here is like Christmas.  Everybody gets so anxious when people hand out the mail.  And by the way this is very stressfull to e mail on here because like i said before I only have 30 minutes!  Anyways thats pretty crazy at the airport.  Some people are so stupid.  I'm glad they didn't steal anything.  I had so much I wanted to tell you guys but now i can't remember! I think next week i'm going to make a list so i remember what to tell you.   Thanks for all the support I'm miss you guys so much!  I'm not homesick though because i think I'm way to busy all of the time to even think about home.  Its a blessing i'm sure.  I'm so busy all the time.  I get maybe 25 minutes at night to just relax until I have to get to bed.  We have to be in bed by 10:30 with the lights off and luckily I've had no problem getting used to the schedule at all. I'm so tired by the time its bedtime I fall right asleep. It feels nice though to be working hard.  The spanish is coming a little bit but its pretty frustrating. i wish i could just speak it!  i can understand it pretty well but I just can't talk back.  We've been teaching an investagator in spanish like I said before and its kind of funny sometimes.  There will just be awkward silences sometimes haha His name is Esauro and I'll actually be teaching him tonight again!  Anyways the food here is pretty good and we can eat as much food as we want! I'm going to be so fat after these 9 weeks (only 8 left).  I really miss your pancakes though dad! those sound so good! And I'm glad you found the red bataca or whatever! hahahaha That was perfect.  And thanks mom for cleaning my room! I promise i won't mess it up until 2013. I miss you mom and I miss you dad! I hope you are all doing good.  Its so nice to hear what you are up to there.  I feel like I already don't know whats going on in the world. Yesterday i got to see Dallin in the MTC his class is like 4 doors away from mine! I haven't seen Lars or Tason yet but hopefully i will soon.  I bet they are freaking out right about now.  It already seems like i've been here forever! The days feel like weeks and the weeks feel like days.  This morning I got to go to the Provo temple for the first time.  Its like a maze in there! It was way awesome though and we got to eat breakfast there too.  It was so cold today though! I'm not liking this cold haha. i better get used to it I guess.  I always pass by that place were we said good bye over by the grass field and by the sidewalk where you dropped me off. i always think about you guys then.  And dad do you think you could mail me that story of Martin Horton Peck?  I would love to read it but I really don't have time too on here.  Oh and my friend e-mailed from the same mission and he says its like living in a tent trailer down there. haha this is going to be crazy! I'm so pumped.  Well my time is almost over on here so i better get off.  I love you guys so much!  Oh and I can get dear elders everyday! just so you know.  Well take care! Hasta luego!!!!

"Hey it's Elder Peck!"

We got our first letter from Luke! Here it is!!
Hey Family!
I got just a few minutes to write you a letter but I just want to let you guys all know that i'm doing good here and everything is going well! I have already taught 2 lessons in Spanish to a (fake) investagator! They seem real. I could understand mostly what the guy was saying but I didn't know how to respond back to him in Spanish. Good thing he's not a real investagtor or he would be running from us I"m sure. I'm super busy here all the time. I had like my first 10 minutes last night when i wasn't having to do something.  i've already seen Elder Taylor Stout here and I ran into that kid I wrestled from snow canyon Elder ___ Wilde. It was pretty cool. He leaves to Brazil on tuesday.  My companion is Elder Hansen from South Jordan. He's pretty cool. He reminds me of Jacob____.  I hope everything is going good for you guys. It was super hard saying bye to all of you but I'm doing surprisingly okay.  I think about you guys all the time.  Its so awesome here though we get to eat as much food as we want! Oh and my P days will be on thursday so I would expect an E-mail then.  I just get a mini p day today to write you guys. I've been wanting to write you earlier but I didn't have time.  How was it dropping Mike off? I hope you guys aren't to sad!  just know i'm thinking of ya! i was wondering if you guys could send me some pictures or something and maybe some of my friends addresses? its okay if you can't though.  Tell Lars, Tason, and Dallin not to freak out to bad when they get here because it does get better. I'm surprsingly not struggling to bad with getting up early and going to bed early.  Sorry this letter is so random but there is a timer on the computer and i only get 30 minutes on here  and I'm not sure if I will get a 30 more minutes on thursday for my p day so basically I have 30 minutes to write to you guys twice. I wish I could talk to you more though!  Sure love and miss you guys take care! Adios!

October 19, 2011

Luke is officially a missionary! He got set apart on October 18th. It was such a great experience. He is so ready. On October 19th we drove to the MTC. It was such a hard time. To all of my family's surprise, we were the only ones crying that we could see! It was really weird because we were super emotional. We were all going to miss him so much, yet we were so incredibly happy for him. He was very emotional having to say goodbye to everyone, I can't imagine what he had to go through. He was so excited to get out there and to see the change in him was such an amazing thing to experience. I love and miss him so much!! He is going to be the best missionary.

Final goodbyes (for two years!) - This picture breaks my heart.
